Has anyone any views on the new McCallisters. I think Don McCallister would be turning in his grave. I used to think they served the best value food on the strip. Good food, good value, relaxing setting. Now its like a dentists waiting room or maybe a pharmacy, in decor. All the food portions have been reduced drastically, although the quality is the same. I could have accepted a price increase, with the old size portions, but not same price with smaller portions.

Anybody else got any thoughts.

Zaphod,

I always used to order two dishes, starter and main course. I eat at The Camel now. Good portions, good quality, good value. Its a pity Ronnie, the guv'ner, is leaving. They did a cracking Christmas Dinner, the last couple of years, under his supervision.

We compliment places on this site. Is it not fair to criticise. You know the place. No comments?

? :D

I usually eat at Camel or Offboard. Just thought it was funny you don't mind increased price, but do mind smaller portions. As a former restaurant manager, I know you have to do one or the other to offset increased food prices. Most restaurants reduce portion size. Camel has done the same thing. I'm not sure how long you've been eating at Camel, as you didn't mention they have done the same thing.

Zaphod, I've been eating at The Camel for almost 2 years, on and off, but I have not noticed, with the meals I order, any reduction in size of portions. I bow to your superior observation techniques. I tend to have their 'Fish and chips', or one of their Indian Curries. Delicious I must say. I've never tried the Offshore, so I'll have to give it a go. Thanks

new McAllister's sucks
I sent Alex (Don's son) photos
the mouthy mamasan from Beaver bar moved there with most of the Beaver girls & their attitude sucks bad
I think the mouthy mamasan has since moved on, Nahm was/is her name, a royal cunt she is

I've eaten in Mac's twice since the re-opening & had about 6 beers total, couldn't be bothered to tell you the truth
I get along with the owner & his nephew just fine, but I don't bother going in to Mac's unless I see someone I know in there

most of the customers sit outside smoking
the old bar was a decent design that allowed for a good chat between the imbibers, not so now

It's not just Ban Chang. I was in Jomtien and Patts yesterday. Everywhere is dead. Many expats gone to home land for a month or two.

Went in for the first time ever this week. The decor is nice but its very anesthetic - I think most of us actually like our sleaze umm.....sleazy.

Sat out from with Stuart last night
he's taking care of the place since Ali went out of town for work.

there's some decent lookin' birds in there right now, but the place is just a bit to "California strip mall" for me.

McAllisters is rumored to have been bought by Ronnie (former owner of the Camel, and current owner of the "Ship In The Hole" bar) and his son, plus another partner..

Interesting times ahead.
