The Truth and nothing, but The Truth.
A true story from LOS or shall we say a story from LOM. You will figure it out during the reading.
On the 11th. June we started a makeover at The Jasmine Bar in Bangsare. The opening was set to 1st of August and we nearly manage to achieve that. Some small details had to wait as usual. During the building process something odd happened that changes the whole project. We got new neighbours, a Thai couple and a dog.
One day after I had my lunch I wanted to take a nap. I think that is normal to most people, thai as well as foreigners. Obviously the dog did not agree to this matter. A grumpy foreigner, and lack of sleep due to the building process, and Norwegian on top of that are not a good sign. First I told the Fu… dog to shut up, and then I asked the thai couple why they had to have dog? There are 8 dogs just opposite, there are 5 dogs further down the street, who all make a hell of a noise on daytime if it is necessary to take care of the street. They are mostly quiet on daytime after guarding the street for night time. No answer other than, - yes, sorry it is my dog. This was spoken in perfect English.
5 minutes later the sky fall down over Jasmine Bar. This came by a phone from the next doors house owner in Bangkok, who wanted a meeting as soon as possible. My thoughts at that time was unfortunately one hundred present correct’’ here we gooooooo’’. Ok, the meeting went as this: Sign here or I take you to police in Sattahip. I refused and said something as that we can talk thru layers though this is threatening of people. I also specific cleared that I had spent money here to make a future for my daughter Jasmine and had little to do with the bar matter. It is not a company thing, if so it would probably be a different case.
The owner then returned then back to Bangkok with undone business. Some days later I was requested by Pit to join her at the police station in Sattahip to apologise to the owner from Bangkok. So I went to do that and hopefully we could close this silly case.
At the station a lot of things was spoken in thai, not by Pit, but by the police officer and the owner from Bangkok. Pit was not spoken to or asked any question, nor was I until I was spoken to from the owner. I then did what I came for, I apologised for shouting to the dog and for shouting to the neighbours. Different culture and language problem. Bla bla bla! You all know how it goes. After I while and a fag outside, Pit came out of the office and Bangkok left the building.
I then asked Pit what she had to pay; usually it is 2000 bath for the trouble of paper work. She did not pay anything. Oooops! She had to close and find new locals within one year. That year turned out to be half a month, probably after pressure from Bangkok. I would say it is called value for certain investments or LOM. End of story?
No, not quite so. That night we had pool game at the bar. We won the game but lost 2 tiers on customers’ parked cars. (of course this is just a coincident, it just happened, and it is true, I AM THE REAL SANTA CLAUSE!).
We soon found a new place not to far away and mowed there. The new name was decided. This name was no good for some people and we had to change that. Hopefully that story is over. So now it is just Jasmine and that might work good, as well as any other name.
As you all can read here it has been turbulent times and I apologise for any inconvenience this might have had to you all as our customers.
You are all welcome to Jasmine in Sukhoumvit Road. Our slogan must be; Everything under one roof.
See you. Pit and Ivar.
