Recently I drove past a couple new or newer neighborhoods down at Sattahip which had a big sign saying "Navy House" so I'm guessing that's the name of the project. Does anyone know anything about the project or how much the houses are going for? It would be great to hear from someone who lived there or close by.

1.5 - 2.5 million, I live on Navy House 15

you normally buy a shell and it costs around 500,000 to sort the house out.

The one next door is finished and is for sale.

Bryan, Is there one or two neighborhoods called Navy House? Do you have any positive or negative comments about living in Navy House? How many kilometers is it to the water downtown Sattahip there by the Navy gate where you can look out into the bay?

PM inbound, MAC

Mac, This is my first post. I also live on a Navy House estate. To my knowledge there are quite a few Navy House estates. One at Sattahip Kilometre 5, One at Sattahip Kilo 6, the one Brayan lives on, whereever that is, and I know of a Navy House estate in Bang Sarey. Most, if not all are on Sukhumvit Road, Highway 3. None are exactly on top of the view point you refer to, although if you have a motor, it's not too far.

Where do you normally hang out? Do you work in Sattahip?

Hi Bryan, I do not work. I am early retired. I've been married to thai wife for 15 years. I am learning from your posts only after living here for 2 years, that there are any places to go locally. I use the Camel, and the Wherehouse, in Ban Chang. The first for breakfast, the second for a drink. I meet a group of Brits, a Kiwi, and a couple of Norsemen for a drink on a Sunday pm in Bang Sare at a beach bar/restaurant near the soccer ground. The rest of my time is taken up by my house, my wife, and my Thai Navy neighbours. I've seen loads of farangs walking around Tesco Sattahip when shopping, but none seem to want to make eye contact. By the way, I am a Brit. Where are you from, and , do you live here permanently? Great site by the way.

There are many Navy (or Navee) House developments in and around Sattahip. Indded just about every development in Sattahip for the last few years is the same. They are all built on Navy land hence the name. Most (not all) are single story developments as there are covenants on the Navy land as such.

They are all developed by the same sister/brother partnership – and guess what Daddy is an Admiral.

I don’t know the sister but I have got to know the brother very well and consider him a friend.

Sister is very “hi-so” looking – all white skin and Mercedes but the brother is brown as a nut drives a Toyota and walks around in shorts and flip-flops. Both are aged about 30 (ish).

Here is a story that might interest you.

We found a house on Navee House 15 we wanted.

Talked to the brother (Khun Jhumpon), this was the first time I had met him.

He asked me for 10,000 for the contract and 60,000 deposit.

I said “no” and exp0lained to him I had been burned before. He seemed quite shocked and told me to forget the money “just pay when you move in”.

First gold star

We had a 50% deposit and needed a 50% mortgage.

He told us if we couldn’t get the mortgage we could buy it monthly at normal bank rate interest.

2nd Gold Star.

On the day we were due to complete the mortgage wasn’t sorted out. As we were driving to finalise contracts he called to ask what the mortgage situation was and we told him we didn’t have it. He said “don’t worry”.

Five minutes later we get a call from the bank “your mortgage is approved”.

3rd Gold Star.

After we had been in the house a week or so my wife asked him to her birthday party. He said he couldn’t come as he would be in BKK. He asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she told him she wanted this spaceship of a washing machine but her husband (me) wouldn’t buy it because it cost over 20,000 baht.

That afternoon the washing machine was duly delivered!!!

BIG gold star as this saved me 20k LOL

In return he wanted us to help him with making his new houses “farang friendly” i.e. “what do farang want”.

Told him the obvious stuff like internal wiring, proper shower doors, recessed lighting not fooking tacky chandeliers etc.

Lo and behold his new developments now have all these things and at NO extra cost.

He really gave me back my faith in Thais and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

If anyone wants an introduction I am happy to do so – VERY happy and no I don’t get a commission LOL. I will take anyone interested personally to meet him.

He is a pleasure to deal with – has always fixed everything that went wrong in the early days and, most importantly, never even a sniff of a rip-off.

Note : I have never really got to know the sister so cannot speak for her. Each development is one or the other not both jointly s some are his and some are hers. She tends to do the 2 storey houses on the other side towards Ban Chang.

Whitespider, In fact it is the bar next door. We used to go in Roongsan, but one of the other guys I meet or his wife overheard the lady boss, on Loy Kratong Day, say that all the farangs will be drunk tonight, so we'll put extra on their bills. They won't notice. From that day the guys have always drunk next door. I personally quite like the Roongsan, where I think the service is good. I've never had a problem there.

Whitespider, I didn't make it to Bang Sare beach yesterday. I won't be there until 19th. If you're there I'll introduce myself. Do you sit in the restaurant or on the beach?

I sit in the restaurant mate. The boy goes swimming and the family sit on the beach and eat if they come.

Hope to see you soon.

Been drinking there two years now bud. I know Roongsan's wife very well and would be very surprised if this were true. Chances are its a case of Chinese whispers probably. That said everything is possible.

The bar next door is a total rip-off (IMO) and they are just stupid about this car parking stuff now. Its also the only bar EVER I have been to in the area where I got hassled for drinks and I was with my wife FFS.

Maybe we can stand in the alleyway in the middle and drink a beer LOL.

As I said previously, I have no problem with Roongsan and will drink, and eat in there happily. Like you I've always found them nice and helpful in there. Not happy myself, with the bar next door, but I go for the chitchat with the others. Total opposite reason to you though. We all find it difficult to get their attention when our glasses are empty. I always park round the back, so have not experienced parking problems. See you on 19th, if you're there.
