What is available as far as civilian housing in Sattahip? What about gated communities or condos in the area? I know there is much available at Ban Chang but what is available close to Sattahip?
What are some good and bad points about living in or close to Sattahip? Are there many issues with traffic from the trucks or pollution? Recently there was a story of a gang related shooting close to the Navy Gate, is crime a big issue in the area compared to Pattaya or Bangkok?

There are plenty of housing available. There are a fair few houses sitting empty as they are just investments. There is a house next door to me for sale around 2,000,000 baht. 4 bedrooms probably.
My house would be 4,500 baht a month rent, but the landlord put me in some air con and furniture, so we agreed on 6,000 a month.
The traffic is fine apart from around 5.00 pm - 6.00 pm when all the army personell finish work, its still not jammed, just slow. Thats only on the main highway.
As for being rough, i go out til all hours around all the thai bars etc and never had a problem. Of course like anywhere else you get occassional problems!
The town is pretty sleepy after 8-9 pm
