How many Condo projects are there in Ban Chang? What are the names of the gated communities? I have heard of Grenville but am not familiar with the area as I have always stayed in Pattaya on holliday. I will be down soon and would like to have the names of places to go look at it when there.
Whats it like living in Ban Chang? Is there any traffic issue going to Sattahip? Where is the closest Carfour to Ban Chang? Any pros and cons about the area would be much appreciated.

You posted a lot of questions, I hope you can post some answers to the questions posted by other forum members.
I doubt anyone has ever counted. There aren't a lot, but the area called Ban Chang is quite large. There could be anywhere from 20-50.I only know two by name: Sinthavee Park and the Village. They are quite large. Sinthavee Park is located south of Sukhumvit on the road down to Pala Beach. The Village is on the south side of Sukhumvit at the east edge of Ban Chang. If you are on the west side of Ban Chang, there is no traffic going to Sattahip. Once you are east of Tesco, you are going to run into a lot of afternoon/early evening traffic in both directions, sometimes all the way through Rayong. The closest Carrefour is Pattaya. There is no shopping in Ban Chang. The Tesco Lotus is very new, but it is smaller than the ones in South Pattaya and Rayong. There is a Big C and Macro in Rayong. The best things about Ban Chang are the beaches, it's quiet, and REPS International School. The worst things about Ban Chang is that rents tend to be inflated because the factories pay high rents for their workers, the town is very run down, and . . . it's quiet. Way quiet. Except for a few bars, the town shuts down at 9pm.

Zaphod, Big thanks for the quick reply. I have lived in Thailand for a few years including one on Ko Chang Island and one in mainland Trat. Now located in Isarn but I miss the ocean and were considering a move to the area, possibly a vacation house or condo. I will be happy to answer any questions I can answer as I know Thailand pretty well, just not Sattahip but I hope that changes as it is a very beautiful area.

South side of Hwy 36, just west of Hwy 3138. Take Hwy 36 towards Rayong. When you reach Rayong town, you will see the Makro sign on your right and Big C on your left. Exit at Hwy 3138, and take the U-turn before you get to the traffic light, Makro will be on the far left, after you complete the U-turn.

In Europe (well uk really) it says you need to be a business, or authorised to buy on behalf of a business
Is that true in this one too?

No you do not need to be a 'trader' to purchase in Makro, although you can register if you wish, but am not sure if there are any advantages in doing so, for us 'expats'.
