Narcotics police launch successful mass raid on Sattahip community
Just before the crack of dawn on Wednesday, Police Major General Sorarsuk, the commander of Narcotic Police Region 1, held a press conference and parade and briefed bleary-eyed reporters and officers on a raid that was due to take place on a community in the Samae-San district in Sattahip. A few minutes after the sun had arisen approximately 100 narcotics police and other operatives surrounded and raided a small community complex, acting on information that suggested a number of the residents were engaged in trafficking illegal narcotics. Police hit the jackpot and 11 people, nine males and two females aged between 20 and 32, were arrested on a variety of charges. Two of the arrestees are Burmese, and therefore illegal aliens. Of the remainder, some were wanted on existing court warrants. A total of 4,000 yah-bah tablets were seized as well as four packs of yah-ice and a significant amount of unaccounted-for cash.
