On Tuesday Morning at the Sattahip Navy Base a final preparation meeting for the 2010 CARAT US/Thai Naval Exercises was held, chaired by Rear Admiral Chaiyot representing the Thai Navy and Rear Admiral Nora Tyson, CTF-73 Commander, Logistics Group, Western Pacific based out of Singapore. CARAT which stands for Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and to enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces which includes Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The exact dates of the Thai phase of CARAT have not been released but the exercise is expected to take part in the latter part of the year.
