I live in the Ban Amphur area and as you know the restaurants around this area is a bit limited. The never ending seafood which of course is very good, but lets face it how many days in a row can you eat the deep fried fish.
In any case, whilst taking a drive around the Wat Yarn area (a very pleasant driving route during the day by the way) I came across this great restaurant called the Countryside Restaurant located in the soi Wat Yarn right across this housing project called The Dusit Pattaya (not to be confused with Dusit Thani)which has a great selection of food. They had Thai, Isan and Jungle food menu plus a few international dishes. They Had entertainment (live music) although i'm not sure if they would have it everyday. Service was also good, very polite and tentative. The only thing negative is that the Thai menu the food can be a bit spicy but as i mentioned it they changed it for me, so i guess if anyone is going should request for falang style. I ordered this really strange thing which is their speciality "Snake Fish in a Bamboo casting" or something like that. Dont confused snake fish for a real snake it was some sort of fresh water fish and they roast it in a bamboo case and came with three different kinds of sauces.
So in general a great addition (and a great change) to the restaurants in the Ban Amphur area. Great atmosphere, great food, and good service. Oil lamp lit dinner in a countryside setting (see what i did there)i could swear to god that i saw some fireflies. Definitely a place to dine out, i know i will be going back.

Cheers

wow, went to Rimpa last night. Great view, very romantic... What about the service? kept us waiting for ages with no one even offered to seat us at the bar first and no indication on how long we will get a table and will they ever change that menu???? I think they need something new.
