Hi,
As a tourist to Pattaya, are Sattahip and these off-track villages worth visiting? Are they safe? I'm not talking about bar crawling in some back door place where only Cambodian fishermen hang out but visiting places worth of going out of your way that no other tourist gets to experience. Besides the naval academy and ships, what can a tourist enjoy the most? How is the bar scene down there? Can a newbie survive?
P.S. Great forum by the way.
Firstly I don't live in this area but have been there a few times. I live up north so I can make some comparison. The fact that you are out of Pattaya and in these towns automatically puts you in the 2.5% of foreigners who actually get out of the western lifestyle.
As for what to do, take a look at the places to drink thread which tells you where you can meet other guys. Just go in, be polite, and say hello. Remember not to be to forward as local expats like to be the guru of everything
Last piece of advice is not to be afraid of going anywhere. Just remember to stay calm, relaxed, respectful and quiet. The only time a foreigner gets in trouble in small places in when they act like proper assholes. These are normally uneducated wankers who think for some reason they should be treated like gods here
Just get out and see what you think. Many people try and decide life is easier at Mickey D's and Soi Shag a lot

Nothing wrong with that.
